In Slovenia are four Universities. University of Maribor has already established Technology transfer office, others are preparing to reestablish it.

Relevant IP matters are covered by Industrial Property Act (last changed in 2006) and Act on Industrial Property Rights Resulting from Labour. Under regulation of Act on Industrial Property Rights Resulting from Labour invetions made by employee belong (on certain conditions!!) to employer. Some special conditions are set out for inventions made by public employees.



• Public Funding Agencies for research and innovation Edit

The Ministry of higher Education, Science and Technology is a financial backer and the partner in Slovenian education and research system. It has a Directorate for Technology which performs tasks in the field of technological development and innovation. It applies modern concepts that foster technological development and innovation in the Slovenian industry. In its work it follows four basic orientations: horizontal incentives for R&D projects of SMEs; technology programmes in selected technological fields; R&D infrastructure and human resources development; participation of the economy in the international R&D area.

The Slovenian Research Agency was established by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, on the basis of its decision of 26 December 2003. The Agency performs professional, development and executive tasks relating to the National Research and Development Programme at every level, as well as other work to promote research and development activities. The Agency carries out its legally determined duties in the public interest, providing permanent, professional and independent decision-making on the selection of programmes and projects financed from the state budget and other financial sources. The Agency is an indirect user of the state budget in terms of the legal provisions that govern public finances and public agencies.

Slovenian Technology Agency was founded by the Republic of Slovenia on the basis of the Foundation Resolution ( Official Gazette num. 12/04) to implement specific tasks defined by the law which complies with the public interests and further to ensure enduring expert and independant implementation of the measures in order to support technological development and inovation financed by the state budget as well as by other sources of financial means.

• Technology Transfer Surveys and sources Edit

At University of Maribor is organizing meeting of experts and economist each year. University of Maribor is also coorganizer of international Conference of Entrepreneurship and Innovation PODIM. The second event for innovators is organized in October called Heureka. It is international meeting of innovators and economy. There are also other smaller events for technology transfer during the year.
